Traditionally voice codes have interfaced to electret microphones and speakers providing A to D and D to A functions, using precision oversampling data converters. Recent advances in microphone design using MEMS techniques are now changing this, along with higher efficiency speaker driver architectures such as Class D topologies. Both of these advances enable significant reductions in power consumption which is needed to address new applications such as voice control, that require always-on operation. Such applications that are often battery powered, driving the need for ultra-low power consumption. The CMX655D addresses these needs, providing an update to the traditional voice codec, that is both very low power and small in size. Microphone interfaces connect single or dual MEMS microphones to the device, with parallel processing of each data stream to maintain phase alignment between the two channels. In the reverse channel, digital voice data drives a Class D speaker driver, also featuring programmable filtering and digital gain control. This architecture operates with much higher efficiency than conventional speaker drivers. An additional low level output is also provided. The device interfaces via standard serial busses that are commonly found on many microcontrollers, DSPs and low cost single chip radio transceivers. The CMX655D is available in a small VQFN-24 package and supported by a range of development tools, including the EV6550D evaluation kit. The EV6550D and EV6550A Evaluation Kits are designed to assist in the evaluation and application development of the CMX655D and CMX655A. The EV6550D/EV6550A is designed to interface with MEMS (Micro-Electro Mechanical System) microphone evaluation boards.

Until now the benefits of digital PMR/LMR have been restricted in unlicensed frequency bands due to regulatory restrictions or limited frequency allocations. Operating in the 2.4GHz ISM band the SCT2400 offers a comprehensive solution supporting near global usage without the need for complex licensing. Capable of replacing unlicensed PMR/LMR solutions (FRS/MURS/GMRS/PMR446), the SCT2400 offers a rich set of features supporting not only secure digital voice operation but also wireless data capabilities. The SCT2400 also offers superior operating range over Wi-Fi based digital radio providing up to 30dB of additional sensitivity. Range is further extended using voice coding technology with enhanced error correction that also maintains voice clarity and a high level of voice security under the most demanding RF environments. The internal power amplifier achieves 12.5dBm and an operational range up to 2km. Using an external FEM to achieve 100mW output power and -123dBm sensitivity, increases operational range to greater than 12km line of site. In comparison to other licensed and unlicensed PMR solutions the SCT2400 operates on a fraction of the power in both receive and transmit, enabling significantly longer operating times or the use of smaller batteries that allows innovative small form factor solutions to be realised. The DE70322T is a complete AIS Class B (IEC 62287-1) technology demonstrator/design reference package that will enable manufacturers to quickly deploy an AIS Class B transceiver in to the market. This flexible platform provides a new low cost route to developing an AIS class B transceiver, taking it through approval and getting to market in a fast and trouble-free manner. The DE70322T implements a dual channel receiver / single transmitter on 161.975MHz (AIS channel 1) and 162.025MHz (AIS channel 2) with 25kHz channel spacing and 9600bps over-air data rate. The receivers are programmable across the entire marine band (156.000 to 162.050 MHz) while the transmitter is optimised for use in the upper marine band (160.000 to 162.050 MHz). The design is a flexible platform based around the CMX7032 Marine AIS baseband and protocol processor. A JTAG header is also provided so that designers can implement their own code and/or implement a complete Class-B CSTDMA protocol stack. There is sufficient memory and processing capability to implement a Class-B SOTDMA (IEC 62287-2) protocol stack, however the RF output of the pcb is limited to 2W.

The DE9941 is a small demonstration platform for the CMX994 Direct Conversion Receiver, the CMX998 Cartesian Loop Transmitter and the CMX7164 Multi-mode Wireless Data Modem. The DE9941 can be used to demonstrate Tx and Rx performance with QAM modulation, FSK and GMSK type modulation. Together with the PE0003 host controller, a full transceiver can be demonstrated using a Function Image and control scripts. The DE9941 provides a Fractional-N PLL and VCO plus associated circuits to provide local oscillator signals for the CMX994/E and CMX998. The PE0003, together with the control scripts, gives the user the ability to program the RF synthesiser to the correct operating frequencies. The design also includes a 1W power amplifier, harmonic filter and Tx/Rx switch. The RF performance is designed to be compliant with EN 302 561 and EN 300 113, all the circuits are provided with power-down capability to allow standby functionality.

The CMX901 is the first product in a range of RF Building Blocks from CML. The CMX901 is a three-stage wideband, high gain and high efficiency RF power amplifier IC operating over 130MHz to 950MHz. The device is ideally suited for use in VHF/UHF radio applications such as data modules, Marine VHF communications and RFID readers/writers used in Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) systems. High power added efficiency supports battery powered applications. The first and second stages of the amplifier operate in a class-A and class-AB mode respectively, and the third stage operates in class-C mode for maximum efficiency. Input and output matched circuits are implemented via external components and therefore can be adjusted to obtain maximum power and efficiency at the desired operating frequency. The CMX901 is available in a small footprint 5mm x 5mm low thermal resistance 28-pin WQFN package making It ideal for small form factor applications
