Mitsubishi Electric

Mitsubishi’s Electric Diode InfraRed sensor (MelDIR) is a thermal sensor for applications in the fields of security, surveillance, crime prevention, people counting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and smart buildings.

MelDIR provides highly detailed thermal images for accurately distinguishing between humans and other heat sources and enables the identification of specific human behavior, such as walking, running or raising hands. It delivers high-pixel, high-thermal-resolution images using unique thermal diode infrared sensor technology that Mitsubishi Electric developed for the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-2 “DAICHI-2” (ALOS-2).

Mitsubishi Electric’s comprehensive range of TO, ROSA or pigtailed transceiver/receiver modules enables data rates of 155MBps through to 10GBps over 80km link lengths, and supports Ethernet, PON, RoF and DWDM transmission protocols. Available in 1310nm, 1550nm and standard CWDM wavelengths, these products meet the requirements of all current high performance transmission applications.

Mitsubishi has a range of lasers available, including a multi-mode semiconductor laser with a 638nm wavelength and 1W output (when pulse-driven) that provides highly visible, vibrant red colors for colour projects. Compared to LEDs, semiconductor lasers have lower power consumption, higher output and can be used with optical systems having a higher maximum aperture. These considerable advantages mean that they can be used for projectors that do not require focal adjustment.
