OmniVision - OV00000-EG0000xx MIPI Board
XProduct SKU: OV00000-EG000026-P

The GAIA development platform enables the end-user to evaluate multiple OmniVision sensors of various resolutions and develop drivers with ease. It is powered through the USB interface and offers Plug-and-Play capability. The platform consists of three boards. The GAIA FPGA board converts the MIPI to parallel and outputs through USB and serves as the main board for all controls and configurations through the USB interface. This board comes with a CD that has PC tools and instructions. The board has a 100-pin connector with all the required signals to support various camera interfaces. The second board is a sensor transfer/adapter board that converts signals from the 100-pin connector to the camera module specific connector so that the sensor camera module can be plugged in directly. Since there are different camera module connectors, such as the 40-pin Panasonic, the 40-pin Hirose and the 40-pin Samtec connectors, various transfer boards are available. The third board is the camera module board with the OmniVision image sensor on board. Each sensor has its own specific camera module board. The GAIA FPGA board also has an auxiliary USB port that can provide additional power if needed.

OmniVision - OV05xxxx 5MP CMOS Sensor
XProduct SKU: OV05640-ECJABA0A-P

OmniVision's OV5645 is a high performance, 5-megapixel system-on-chip (SOC) ideally suited for the cost-sensitive segment of the mobile handset market. The CameraChip™ sensor's single MIPI port replaces both a bandwidth-limited DVP interface and a costly embedded JPEG compressor, allowing the new OV5645 sensor to save significant silicon area and cost. An embedded autofocus control with voice coil motor driver offers further cost savings for the end user, making the OV5645 a highly attractive alternative to other 5-megapixel sensors currently on the market. The OV5645 also features a new picture-in-picture (PIP) architecture that offers an easy-to- implement, low-cost dual camera system solution for mobile handsets and smartphones. The feature is based on a master/slave configuration where a front-facing camera (OV7965) can be connected through the OV5645 master camera, enabling a two-camera system with PIP functionality without the need for an additional MIPI interface into the baseband processor. Built on OmniVision's 1.4-micron OmniBSI™+ pixel architecture, the OV5645 offers high performance 5-megapixel photography and 720p HD video at 60 frames per second (fps) and 1080p HD video at 30 fps with complete user control over formatting and output data transfer. The sensor's 720p HD video is captured in full field-of-view with 2x2 binning, which doubles the sensitivity and improves the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A unique post-binning, re-sampling filter function removes zigzag artifacts around slant edges and minimizes spatial artifacts to deliver even sharper, crisper color images.

OmniVision - OV07xxxx VGA DIGITAL CMOS Sensor
XProduct SKU: OV07251-A35A-1F-P

The OV7251 is a small form factor, low power CameraChip™ sensor that uses a global shutter to reduce or eliminate unwanted image artifacts, which occur with traditional rolling shutter image sensors as a result of motion during image capture. The sensor's global shutter and excellent low-light sensitivity allow it to be used for any application that has a need for gesture detection, head and eye tracking, and depth and motion detection. The OV7251's compact form factor makes it a highly attractive camera solution for space-constrained applications such as head-mounted displays, smartphones, tablets, notebooks and Ultrabooks. Likewise, the sensor's low-power consumption makes it an ideal dedicated gesture sensor for similar application areas. Leveraging the industry's smallest global shutter pixel, the black and white OV7251 is capable of capturing VGA (640x480) resolution video at 120 frames per second (fps), QVGA (320x240) at 180 fps with binning, and QQVGA (160x120) at 360 fps with binning and skipping. The OV7251's high frame rates make it an ideal solution for low-latency machine vision applications. The 1/7.5-inch OV7251 features multiple low-power modes, including light sensing mode and ultra-low power standby mode. In light sensing mode, the OV7251 behaves like an Ambient Light Sensor (ALS), which wakes the sensor up from "sleep mode" only when a change in light has been detected. Similarly, in ultra-low power mode, the sensor can reduce the resolution and frame rates to further reduce power consumption.
